Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Digital Collection
The Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Digital Collection contains historic photographs documenting the first agricultural engineering department in the world. Images include students, faculty, laboratory equipment and workshops, agricultural machinery demonstrations, and farm safety investigations. The first head of the department was Jay Brownlee Davidson, (finding aid.) Davidson transformed agricultural engineering from a supplemental engineering program into a full four-year curriculum. The collection contains five of Davidson's scrapbooks, which highlight his travels to Russia and China as a consultant on agricultural mechanization, and provide glimpses into the lives of rural citizens of these countries. To find more of these collections, search the library catalog or refer to the Agricultural Collections finding aid in Special Collections.
